As you know Stevie Nicks is the patron saint of my blog.....the reason is very simple......she was in the background of my youth. When I was young I didn't worry about much of anything....I kept life very simple.....tan, work, play tennis, dance, sleep.....simple.
And Stevie Nicks approved. She could twirl out on a stage in a beautiful black dress, long blonde hair and great music....and we all felt pretty.
I am not having a mid life crisis....but I miss that Donna sometimes....she was a lot of fun. And by the way, she was always late too......so not everything changes.
I have to remember that once upon a time I had fun.....We all need to remember that. So dance to Motown today! Lip sync your absolute favorite high school song....call up a friend who knew you when you had a waistline and laugh about the one that got away. Relive some harmless pranks.....and just laugh!!
Best Medicine.....Stevie Nicks would do it.
Ahhhhhh - the good old days. When I could tuck my shirt into my pants. When I dressed to show off my figure and not to camouflage it. When I entered a Farrah Fawcett look-alike contest. When Star Wars first came out. When Disco ruled! When all I cared about was dancing and tanning and eating fresh Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies. Simple - carefree. And I knew that fun, delicious Donna!
ReplyDeleteWendy!! By the way that is Wendy in the picture with Raymond and me....she was the queen of disco!! We danced and danced, and she won every contest...
ReplyDeleteIt was the best...Love you Wendy.....
They were THE "good ole days".
ReplyDeleteI couldnt really dance worth a hoot but I could do the Bump.
The Bump was the fall back position for most guys.....for some reason they really got into it...wonder.
DeleteWell It was the closest thing we could ever get to a date and we didnt have to buy dinner.
DeleteGood advice!
ReplyDelete=)
Isn't it so true that remembering those teens years makes us realize how casual life was!
ReplyDeleteAmen, sister. My friend and I were just discussing this same thing!! I was a fun person before life happened!! That person is still in there somewhere, just gotta dig her out!=) PS. You are still fun to me!
ReplyDeleteJust so you know Donna....you are STILL fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat advice. Just heard Stevie on the Sirius radio today... gypsy, great song. Have a great Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteMy best friend since I was 12 moved to where I now reside about 8 years ago. I have always called her when I needed to be with someone who knew me 'when'. It's important to bring back those memories.
ReplyDeleteHugs and happiness~
I know I need to write to Patti right now...
DeleteStevie makes everyone feel good! I sing for a SN tribute band, White Winged Dove, and I am lucky enough to get to dress up and sing those wonderful songs! Thanks for your post, I really loved it! ♥ Barbara @ WhiteWingedDoveBand.com
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous...we all want to be rock stars...how fun to actually be one! Send pictures, I would love to it..
DeleteI always loved to dance and I always loved Stevie and the whole Fleetwood Mac gang - they definately were a part of my teen years.
ReplyDeleteI still love to dance and my kids just look at me like I've gone insane. It is pretty hilarious. My husband has 2 left feet so I always ask them "Where the snark do you think you got your dance moves from?" "Oh yeah, smarty pants!!".
Yeah, I'm a good mom that way ;-D
Stevie would definately have done it!! I think she still does.
And seriously that young picture of you looks SO familiar to me. I think we are probably about the same age. I wonder if our paths have crossed when we were younger.
ReplyDeleteThat wouldn't surprise me.....we are both fabulous!
DeleteLove the picture. You are still marvelous, darling! I think we DON'T dance enough. Somehow (about the time we lose our waists) we think we can't bust a move anymore. But we can, and we should. It just makes us happy. And I know Stevie would approve.
ReplyDeleteMy husband made a crack about where that girl in the picture went...needless to say there was a bit of icy coldness in the air.
DeleteAsk him where that cute boy in the picture went.
